I'm back!!

I know I know.. even if you were reading my blog before, you are not reading it anymore :-) I took a long break off blogging :) Well there was a lot going on.

So what's new on my end? Mentoring and training for Napa Marathon. I've got some fabulous mentees. And you know, when I'm with Team in Training, I put all other sports on the back burner.

I'll post an update shortly.

Ten Healthiest Sports

No wonder Squash made it to the top of Frobes Healthiest Sports List!! I only wish there was more awareness about the sport here in the US.

I was kind of surprised to see Rowing at # 2. I guess low injury factor gave it a big boost. Rock Climbing is already on my agenda not too far in the future. Cross Country Skiing, no thank you. I’d rather do downhill skiing. Cycling and running came as no surprise either. Triathlon is on my agenda anyways... swimming sucks. But it won't for long :-)

Talking of the healthiest sport, I just made a team to play in Peninsula Squash League. I’ll be the captain of team of 6. We will play at different clubs ranging from San Francisco Bay Club (North Beach) to Decathlon in Santa Clara. It will give us a good opportunity to improve our game and have fun at the same time. Will keep you posted on that.

Well, we did beat #1 team last week in Volleyball. Don’t think we can make it to playoffs still due to lack of attendance in the first few matches. But had lots of fun.

Sand Volleyball

I'm playing in a Sand Volleyball League. So far we have played Greg, Shirphone, Helen, John, Patricia, Greg and myself on our team. Chances to playoffs are not so great. Main reason being very low attendance. We had to forfeit a match because only 2 people showed up (we need a minimum of 3) and played two matches with only 3 players against 4. That is good for workout but not so good for points :) We have a tough game tonight but I think we can win if we have a full roster.

I don't have any pictures to post but will try to get some.

Pasta Party

Pasta Party at Caesars before America's Most Beautiful Ride at Lake Tahoe.

Shortest Long Run

Bay to Breakers. I beat the girl ahead of me in the last 50 meters :-) Actually, I passed at least 50 runners in the last 200 meters. I've always been a sprinter; 400m, 800m and 1500m being my favorites so it was a good change to do a longer run. Since then I've forgotten that I am not a long distance runner!! My goals: a sub 40 minutes 10k and Boston Marathon.

Skydive

Jumping down from a plane at 13000 feet is not very easy but once I'm out in air, I have a great time. As a matter of fact, I'm trying to calm down my instructor!! I had to remind him to open the chute when we were only 5000 feet from the ground. Skydiving is less riskier than driving, believe it or not. A piece of advice to first timers: make sure your instructor knows how to skydive!!

Seattle to Portland Bicyle Classic - Day 1

We rode from Seattle to Portland (206 miles) in 2 days!! More on this later (including more pictures).

What are those balls, you ask. We had them on for Lake Tahoe Century. We were riding in a group of about 15 and it made it so easy to find one another among thousands of riders at sag stops. We got a lot of compliments too; "nice balls" :-)

We decided to put something new for the Seattle to Portland Ride. In some other pictures (from STP), you will see my friends wearing colorful feathers on their helmets. I, however, was too lazy to put them on so I left the balls on.

My Ferrari

Did I tell you I bought a Ferrari? It's only faster. 0-60 in 2 seconds. Ferrari does it in 4.

Seattle to Portland Bicyle Classic - Day 2

This is mile 152 of the 206 miles ride. We are waiting for police to stop traffic on Lewis and Clark Bridge; the bridge is too narrow and windy to share wih traffic. Good opportunity to take some pictures. Mark, Mike, Scott, Barb, Barbara & Saad.
